A serious incident has occurred in Greece, where a 25-year-old man has lost his life as a result of a knife attack to the heart. The victim was found lifeless in a park in the Agios Dimitrios area of Athens, while the case has shocked public opinion due to his family circumstances.
According to Greek media, police investigations are underway to unravel the murder that occurred on Wednesday evening (April 22) in the “Asyrmatos” park. Initially, authorities are examining the possibility that the incident is related to a clash between fans, after the young man’s body was found near a bar where violent incidents with firearms had previously been recorded.
However, so far there is no evidence that the murder had sporting motives, which has led to the investigation being extended in several different directions.
The 25-year-old, who was the son of a senior officer of the Greek police (ELAS), was found lifeless at around 9:30 p.m. after a foreign citizen alerted authorities to the presence of a person lying in the park. Police determined that the young man had received a fatal stab wound to the heart.
The incident takes on an even more tragic dimension due to the father's role. The police officer, due to his duty and the fact that he lived near the scene, went to inspect the situation, not knowing that the victim was his son. At the scene, he was confronted with his son's lifeless body.
Media sources report that shortly before the incident, father and son were together at home watching a basketball game.
An eyewitness, known to the family, said that there had been a conflict before the attack. According to him, the young man was stabbed in the heart and, although seriously injured, managed to walk a few meters before collapsing and dying. He added that the area is often the scene of violent incidents.
Greek authorities are continuing investigations to identify the perpetrator and fully clarify the circumstances of the crime.
