The Wagner Group "is likely to cease to exist as a quasi-independent parallel military structure" following the apparent death of its head, Yevgeny Prigozhin, according to a US think tank.
In its daily update, the Institute for the Study of War said the loss of the group's central leadership in the fall means the group is unlikely to survive the Russian defense ministry's campaign to destroy the organization after Prigozhin led its fighters. in a rebellion against Moscow in late June.
The institute also reported that the ministry has created private military companies that have recruited current and former Wagner personnel to take control of the group's operations abroad.
