Five people are under investigation by Greek police after they threatened a 36-year-old man and his family for almost a month to extort 10,000 euros through pressure and blackmail.
The people under investigation are aged 27 to 58, and one of them is reportedly in prison, but on the dates when the threats were made, he was on leave, meaning he was out of prison.
The arrested persons are suspected of having, on June 19 and July 19, under the pretext of a personal matter, attempted in person, by phone and through social networks to force a 36-year-old man to pay 10,000 euros, threatening his physical integrity and that of his family, as well as causing damage to the shops he maintains.

After analyzing the video footage, the defendants were identified as the perpetrators of the aforementioned criminal offenses.
In the early hours of Saturday morning, August 2, 2025, the 27-year-old, 31-year-old and 38-year-old were found by police officers of the Extortion Department in an area of Western Attica, while a fourth person, 35 years old, is in prison, but on the dates when the threats occurred was on leave.
From subsequent investigations, the 38-year-old was arrested, after a 39-centimeter-long knife and a closed-circuit video recording device were found and seized in his home, while the amount of 2,700 euros was found in his possession.

The defendants have been convicted of many criminal offenses in the past.
The arrested person, with the file filed against him for violating the weapons legislation, was sent to the competent prosecution body, while at the same time all preliminary investigative material for the criminal offenses of extortion with collaboration and intimidation was handed over.
