New Year 2026 has officially arrived in New Zealand and gradually, hour by hour, fireworks will explode in every part of the globe.

New Zealand is the second country in the world to welcome the New Year, after Kiritimati Atoll, also known as Christmas Island, while the atmosphere that characterizes the change of years prevailed for a few minutes. New Zealand, with its capital Auckland, welcomed the year 2026 at 12:00 with the Albanian one.
As is tradition, the new year was welcomed with a fireworks display, amidst the beautiful atmosphere and wishes for a good year. After New Zealand, the new year will arrive in Australia an hour later.
The International Date Line, which zigzags slightly from north to south and only partially follows the 180th meridian, antipodes of Greenwich, has had a pronounced eastward deviation since 1995, cutting across two time zones, including, among others, the archipelago of Kiribati, Samoa and Tonga.
