Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reacted sharply to the killing of two Israeli embassy employees in Washington, calling it a "horrific anti-Semitic act."
In a post on X, the prime minister's office announced that Netanyahu held talks with the Israeli ambassador to the US, Yechiel Leiter, and with US Attorney General Pam Bondi, demanding that the incident be treated with the utmost seriousness.
"We are witnessing the terrible price of anti-Semitism and savage incitement against the State of Israel. The bloody slander against Israel is being multiplied with blood and must be fought to the end ," the statement said.
Netanyahu also announced that security measures for Israeli embassies and diplomatic representatives around the world would be immediately strengthened in response to the incident.
The tragic event has shocked public opinion and sparked strong international reactions, including from other senior leaders such as the US president and the Israeli president, who condemned the act as an anti-Semitic and unacceptable attack.
