Thousands of protesters have gathered in the streets of Tel Aviv, after the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that they had "accidentally" killed three men being held hostage in Gaza.
Protesters carried banners and candles as they marched towards a military base in Tel Aviv and called on the Israeli government to negotiate a deal to release the remaining hostages seized by Hamas on October 7. Protesters also carried placards demanding the resignation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Yotam Haim, Samer Talalka and Alon Shamriz were shot by troops after being mistakenly identified as a "threat", during the ongoing IDF ground offensive in northern Gaza.
The IDF has expressed "deep regret" related to the murders and has said that he will start an investigation.
More than 100 hostages kidnapped by Hamas remain in Gaza.
According to Al Jazeera, the head of the Mossad and the prime minister of Qatar will meet to resume talks on the release of the hostages.
The meeting could take place after growing pressure on Netanyahu following the killing of three captives by Israeli forces, who admitted mistaking them for Palestinian fighters.
Last month, Israel recalled its negotiators from Qatar and rejected any ceasefire attempts.
