The US has launched strikes in Syria after three troops were killed and dozens wounded in a drone strike on a military base in Jordan on Sunday.
An official said the army had carried out self-defense strikes inside Yemen today against Houthi military targets considered an imminent threat.
British and US forces carried out three strikes in Yemen's northern province of Hajjah, a Houthi stronghold, Al-Masirah, a Houthi-run news channel, reported.
Some Iranian-backed factions, such as Harakat al-Nujaba in Iraq, have vowed to continue attacking US forces despite a seemingly inevitable US military response.
Options under consideration include targets in Syria, Yemen and Iraq, where the Iranian-made drone that killed the service members was shot down, one of the US officials said.
The US response could take the form of a "campaign" involving attacks and cyber operations lasting weeks, NBC News reported Wednesday. Iran's Revolutionary Guard has previously said it will respond to any US threats.
