Two people have died and four others, including two minors, have been seriously injured in a shooting incident recorded in the municipality of El Ejido, in the province of Almería, in the late hours of Monday.
The Civil Guard has opened an investigation to clarify the incident, while a large security operation has been set up in the area. The perpetrator of the shooting was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday, after he surrendered to the Local Police Station. The two victims are his parents.
Civil Guard sources have announced that one of the injured minors is only seven months old and is in critical condition. He is the son of the perpetrator of the incident. Another injured person is a two-year-old child, while the other two injured people, who are hospitalized, are a woman in serious condition and a 60-year-old man.
The 112 Andalucía Emergency Service received several calls at around 11:15 p.m. on Monday, reporting that several shots had been heard in the El Canalillo area, very close to Balanegra and within the administrative territory of El Ejido, according to sources from this institution.
Numerous forces from the Local Police, National Police and Civil Guard were sent to the scene, which also engaged members of the Rapid Action Group (GAR) and took over the investigation of the case.
Medical teams also arrived at the area. They found the death of two people, who turned out to be the parents of the shooter. There were also four seriously injured people, who were transported to the Poniente and Torrecárdenas hospitals. Among them were two children, one of whom is the son of the arrested person. One of the adults is in the intensive care unit.
The suspected shooter had fled the scene, but in the early hours of Tuesday he surrendered to the El Ejido Local Police, according to the Europa Press agency.
