Vucic in trouble, EP resolution for an international investigation of the

The European Parliament, through a special resolution, will request an independent international investigation into the irregularities reported during the elections in Serbia.

This resolution is expected to be voted on this Thursday in a plenary session of the EP in Strasbourg, says Radio Free Europe.

The text of the draft resolution states that Serbia has not ensured the conduct of elections according to international standards and norms, condemns the lack of political pluralism, the favoring of the ruling party, the Serbian Progressive Party by the media during the campaign, the numerous disinformation campaigns, in which, in addition to the pro-government media, also included Russian structures. Among the irregularities, the European Parliament mentions the organized behavior of voters from other countries, especially from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The draft resolution condemns the excessive use of police forces in Serbia against protesters during protests against election irregularities. The members of the European Parliament also condemn the verbal attacks by the representatives of the power in Serbia against the observers from the EU. The language against the EU that has been spread in Serbia by the media close to the ruling party is condemned, where it is mentioned that the Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, has publicly thanked the services of Russia for information about the protests, organized by the opposition in Serbia.

The European Parliament has asked the European Commission to consider the suspension of EU funds for Serbia if it is proven that the Serbian authorities were directly involved in the manipulation of the election results. The EP also demanded that Serbia's membership negotiations with the EU be linked to reforms, including addressing problems with the elections. Without these, the text said, the negotiations would not have to continue.
