With tears in her eyes and a broken voice, Erica Kirk, the wife of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, addressed the nation with a speech, as "Turning Point USA" would define it.
The wife of the late conservative activist vowed to carry out his mission, urged young people to join his organization and called for a revival of the Christian faith.
Charlie Kirk, a father of two and ally of Donald Trump, was shot dead during a university rally in Utah. Just days later, she found the strength to appear in public. She thanked those who stood by the family, spoke of their love, the pain of loss, but also of her promise: That Charlie's voice will not be silenced.
"Good evening. My name is Erica Kirk. Charlie Kirk is my husband."
I want to first thank the local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies who worked tirelessly to catch my husband's killer and bring him to justice.
I want to thank the first responders who fought heroically, heroically to save Charles' life and the police who acted courageously to ensure there were no other victims that terrible afternoon. I want to thank the police officers who protected the Turning Point USA family these past two days.
And I want to thank the Turning Point USA board of directors, the COO, Justin Strief, and my husband's chief of staff, the wonderful Mikey McCoy, for all their work during these terrible days in being a source of stability for our family and for the wider Turning Point USA family as well. My heart goes out to each of my husband's employees who have lost a friend and mentor.
I want to thank the staff of this wonderful Charlie Kirk show, who helped him broadcast from this studio, this chair every day. He loved it. He loved what he did. I want to thank the millions of people who showed their love for Charlie here in Phoenix, across America, and around the world.
I want to thank my husband's dear friend, Vice President Vance, and his wonderful wife, Usha, for their love and support. You did my husband a great honor by bringing him home. You are both amazing. I want to thank President Trump and his incredible family for the same.
"Mr. President, my husband loved you and he knew that you loved him too. He knew that. Your friendship was wonderful. You supported him so much, and he supported you," Erica said in her speech.
She continued, "Two days ago, my husband Charlie went to see the face of his savior and Lord. Charlie always said that when he left, he wanted to be remembered for his courage and faith."
“And in one of the last conversations he had on this earth, my husband bore testimony of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Now and for all eternity, he will stand at the side of his Savior, wearing the glorious crown of martyrdom.
Charlie loved, he loved life. He loved life, he loved America, he loved nature, which always helped him, brought him closer to God. He loved the Chicago Cubs.
He was the best husband and father.
But most of all, Charlie loved his children. And he loved me with all his heart. And I knew that every day, I knew that. He made sure I knew that every day, every day he would ask me, "How can I serve you better? How can I be a better husband? How can I be a better father?" she said.
Erica had a message for those she identified as responsible for Charlie Kirk's murder.
"The thugs responsible for my husband's murder have no idea what they did. They killed Charlie because he preached a message of patriotism, faith and love. Everyone should know this. If you thought my husband's mission was strong before. You have no idea. You have no idea what you have unleashed upon this entire country and the world. You have no idea. You have no idea the fire you have lit inside me. The screams of this widow will echo around the world as a battle cry for all who will hear tonight, all across America," she said.
Erica promised that no one would forget her husband's name.
"The movement my husband built will not die. I refuse to let it happen. It will not die. All of us will refuse to let it happen. No one will ever forget my husband's name. And I will make sure it becomes the strongest, the bravest, the strongest and the most magnificent it has ever been. My husband's mission will never end, for a moment," she said.
