The British Home Secretary, Suella Braverman, has come under strong criticism after declaring that "homeless people on the streets of England stay that way because they choose this kind of lifestyle."
Braverman, through a comment on the X social network, wrote that "we cannot allow tents full of people, mostly foreigners who choose to live this lifestyle, to be erected on our streets."
English MP Bob Blackman opposing this position of Braverman told The Observer newspaper that "homeless people on the streets of England do not do it for lifestyle.
It is beyond that. Each case is unique. I would never use Braverman's language," said the English MP, emphasizing that the secretary of internal affairs should use more careful language.
Suella Braverman made these comments as a warning about the plans of the government she is part of, in removing these tents erected by the homeless. According to her, such ways of accommodation within urban areas by foreigners should end.
"We cannot allow our roads to be blocked by foreigners who choose this type of life" , she emphasized.
Human rights activists protested outside Suella Braverman's office in central London. They called on him to stop stirring up hate speech and fear of foreigners, as they called for an end to the racist culture within the Home Office. The number two of the Labor Party, Angela Rayner, said that "after 13 years in power, the conservatives are the only ones to blame, not the homeless people on the streets".
