Will SPAK be able to maintain the same standard for much more recent files? Or will we wait another 15 years?!
There is no need to bet, to believe that every Albanian wants justice. Tired, fed up, empty stomached and without hope, everyone wants the alternative of the right man to lead them.
But is Albania at the moment of great hope and upheaval?
Undoubtedly, the news of the handcuffing of Jamarbër Malltez, the seizure of some of his properties, and the decision to oblige Berisha to appear is good news. And if none of the allegations turn out to be true; even if the beneficiaries of the former Partizani Club are former old owners who took over the properties of their grandparents; benefiting only from the presence of Jamarbër Malltez in their group, the operation that started on Saturday is good news. Because it gives hope to everyone that there are no more untouchable people in Albania.
But this is exactly where the fine line that separates the game of big politics, with threats and useless imprisonment, from the day of justice begins.
Fatos Nano was also jailed once, but justice was nowhere to be seen. We currently have ex-ministers and high-ranking officials in prison, but everyone knows that with them, not only has justice not been done, but those who are inside were only a small piece of the political and alleged justice.
Therefore today Albania is at a key point for its future.
The file of the former club Partizani is a big scandal of the alienation of state property and it seems that SPAK prosecutors have studied it line by line. They did well! Justice was decided for Jamarbër, his own Berisha, an hour ago. Although 15 years have passed since the day when this alienation began, it is appropriate that justice speak last.
But will SPAK be able to maintain the same standard for much fresher files?
Will SPAK prosecutors have the same courage to put Olta Xhaçka behind bars, who has committed the same thing: alienation of army properties. Hundreds of hectares that were taken from the state and given to "strategic investors", including her own husband?
Will justice speak or will it wait another 15 years?
And this justice, which has carefully studied - and has done well - every detail of the alienation of the land of the former Partizani Club and the construction of 17 towers where people live today, will it be able to decide with the same courage and order arrests for hot files of government corruption of Edi Rama?
Basically, the accusation against Jamarbër Malltez is passive corruption, that is, as the son-in-law of Sali Berisha, he influenced the decision-making for the coveted land. Let the justice decide on this.
At the same time, should Edi Rama answer for the check-up concession, for example, that was given to a company without experience points, without competition and for a service not requested by it?
Should this government answer how it signed the contract for the Elbasan incinerator, how this service was given to an inexperienced company and how it publicly lied about the same company's ownership of all three incinerator plants?
Should Edi Rama answer why he and his cabinet approved the acts and the contract of the Elbasan incinerator in record time?
Or for the concession contracts that were drawn up, signed quickly and in complete secrecy and clearly to the detriment of the state treasury?
Can it get to the bottom of these SPAK scandals, or will it wait for a few more decades to pass?
You know the refrain. Rama comes out and says "how do I know what my people are doing behind the scenes", while Berisha on the other hand defends himself by saying "I didn't sign anything, Edi Rama gave him the permits".
And with these cic-mics, not justice that is never established, but also the political class will never be able to be changed.
The moment has come and if it doesn't happen now, maybe we won't be lucky enough to see it and understand what "justice" means./ Pamphlet
