The metaphor of "Mehmet Shehu's villa" seems to be part of paranoia, he wanted to say something, or even fuel conspiracy theories.

The new commissioner, Mrs. VanHorn, has met with all the leaders of the Albanian state, which is part of the diplomatic protocol. She met with the President and the head of the Assembly in their office, however, the same did not happen with Edi Rama.

In this case, with the reception of the American diplomat at Mehmet Shehu's villa, the message was intended to be mysterious and feed the imagination. A logic that also stems from the fact that the prime minister has not prepared any announcement about the meeting, nor has Rama himself posted it on his social pages, where he publishes everything, even restaurants and hostels. Information and photos on the meeting were provided by the US embassy.
In this respect, the concept seems to be part of Rama's paranoia with the Americans, which he demonstrates from time to time, even trying to make empty movements, as if to answer you.
The fear that it is the Americans who will remove him, forced him to change the government last month, causing trauma and problems within his party. Therefore, the metaphor of "Mehmet Shehu's villa" seems to be part of paranoia, he wanted to say something, or even fuel conspiracy theories.
One of which has been circulating for years is that Mehmet Shehu was the first communist official who had good contacts with the Americans since 1944, and his (suicide) in 1981 is seen as revenge for this.
In the publication of the book of the American journalist Peter Lucas 20 years ago in Albanian, on the activity of the mission of the OSS (the predecessor of the CIA) in Albania, there is a very important passage.
The member of the mission, a soldier of Croatian origin, during the parade on November 28, 1944, when Enver Hoxha's government entered Tirana, asked Mehmet Shehu why he does not try to take power. He was the most popular man in the army and more influential than Hoxha. As Lucas writes, Shehu's answer was: "Politics it's not my job." Meanwhile, the head of the OSS in Albania was Harry Fultz, who had directed the technical school in Tirana, and had Mehmet Shehu as a student.
Of course, the former prime minister of communism turned out to be a loyalist of Enver Hoxha, but the dictator struck him because he was possessed by paranoia and did not want to leave him as a successor. He chose Ramiz Ali, who was already part of his family. Ali's granddaughter married Hoxha's son.
And precisely this symbol, that of Mehmet Shehu, Edi Rama, who has been conquered by paranoia even from his long and unrestrained power, wanted to show the Americans.
Maybe to tell him that this is how you have punished people close to you, such as myself, who did what you said. Or on the contrary, to make it known that do not ask for a "mehmetsheh" that I choose my successor when and how I want. There is a good chance that this second one will stay.
Undoubtedly, they are hypotheses, but fed by Bablok, who if he had held the meeting as everyone does, in the office of the institution he leads, and had informed correctly and officially about the meeting with the American diplomat, no one would have found paths to other reading.
The symbolism of Rama in this case, he wanted more to talk to the Americans than to the Albanian public, for whom he does not care much.
