"Egg of Shalsi" - open blackmail against KLSH

It is so simple and, what the majority tries to present as the "Egg of Columbus", there is no Albanian who does not understand that it is actually the "Egg of Shalsi" that he released in the Parliament on October 28, 2022.

One of the most recent actions of the socialist majority, which has aroused many discussions, is the creation of a Permanent Parliamentary Subcommittee whose purpose will be to "control" the Supreme State Audit.

Basically, this action is interpreted by many political analysts and observers as an attempt to blackmail and hinder the KLSH in fulfilling its important function: supervising the financial activity of the government and state institutions.

The socialist majority presents this initiative as a form of improving transparency and accountability, claiming "Columbus's Egg"... But, in reality, this effort appears to be a maneuver to control the KLSH, an institution that historically has showed courage and integrity in highlighting irregularities and abuses of public funds.

An incident that underlines this concern was the previous threat of the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Economy and Finance, Eduart Shalsi. In a clear way, Shalsi connected the creation of this subcommittee with the inspection that the KLSH had done in the ministry that he led.

Shalsi's behavior was a clear evidence that the establishment of the subcommittee is not intended to be a sincere effort to improve governance, but rather an attempt to curb the audit activity of the KLSH towards it. It is so simple and, what the majority tries to present as the "Egg of Columbus", there is no Albanian who does not understand that it is actually the "Egg of Shalsi" that he released in the Parliament on October 28, 2022.

The creation of such a subcommittee, which will have the authority to control the HSC, is a direct threat to the principles of transparency and accountability in governance. If this subcommittee is used as a tool of blackmail, the SSC will be less free to carry out its inspections and report on abuses and corruption. Instead of improving governance, this move has the potential to worsen the situation by creating a climate of fear and pressure on HSC officials.

It is essential that civil society, the media and citizens be attentive and critical of these actions of the socialist majority. KLSH must remain independent and free from political pressures. Only in this way can we ensure that our institutions are at the service of citizens and not narrow political interests. Therefore, the "Egg of Shalsi" should be considered as a threat to institutional integrity and a step back in the fight for a fair and transparent government./ Pamphlet
