The positive side of the rain, heavy rainfall returned KESH to energy exports

In addition to the floods and other damage caused by the rain, the late August rainfall is saving the country some money that would have gone to buying electricity. After many months of importing, the Albanian Electric Power Corporation has changed its position, from buying only... to exporting.

KESH has put up for sale 2,250 megawatt-hours of electricity worth over 300,000 euros. In the absence of rainfall, this amount would not only not have been collected, but would have been spent on purchasing energy from abroad.

In August alone, the Albanian Electric Power Corporation purchased from other countries nearly 278 thousand megawatt-hours of electricity worth a little over 36.6.5 million euros. The average price per megawatt-hour is estimated at around 132.7 euros.

Since the beginning of the year, KESH has purchased over 137 million euros of electricity, 90 million more than January-August of the previous year.

The strong sun's rays reduced the hydro reserve in the Drini Cascade to 1,272 cubic meters per second. Due to the high demand that many European countries have, data from the Hungarian stock exchange HUPX shows that although with fluctuations, the price of electricity is increasing./ A2 CNN
