The head of Konfindustria, Gjergj Buxhuku spoke about the devaluation of the euro, also focusing on the strengthening of the lek. During the conversation in the studio, he emphasized that the fall of the euro came from informal money flows. He also added that an in-depth analysis should be done to clarify the opinion, as well as to take measures related to this situation.
"For a year there has been a continuous devaluation of the euro. There should be an alarm signal that is not only related to the devaluation of the euro and the strengthening of the lek, but we are dealing with a signal that the lek is hitting the euro hard, but we are also dealing with the fact that the economy is working in general. It's a wake-up call that's comparable in size to '97. After even at that time all decision-making closed its eyes, with the pyramids of time. The least that the accountability institutions in Albania should have done is to do their duty. There is no response from the institutions. The main measure is to come to conclusions and openly tell the Albanians why the leku is being strengthened. We have the presence or massive flows of black money being cleaned in the Albanian economy, this is very dangerous. If they were developed with normal resources, there is no problem, but all the data show that there is no growth due to the formal economy, but we are dealing with money that comes from informality, black money that is cleaned in Albania. The government should react", he said.
