
With the arrival of the end-of-year holidays, inflation has increased by 2.1% compared to a year ago. The increase in consumer demand has affected the price change indicator through several categories. Tab 2 Rent, water and fuels increased inflation in November, followed by food and alcoholic beverages.
"Look, September's inflation, which is considered the highest inflation in a year, was 2.4%. October's was 2.3%. It is neither high nor low inflation," says economic expert Klodjan Muço.
Other categories that have influenced the price increase are Tab 3 home furniture, as well as bars and restaurants. But the price increase will not stop there; Albanians will also buy fruits and vegetables more expensively this time during the month of December. The increase in consumption during the holidays, for food traders, is seen as a good opportunity for profit.
"If we take the basket of basic foods, of consumer products, starting from the history of Albanians who spend a lot during the end-of-year holidays, because this has to do with our past, then consumption will increase and merchants see this as a golden opportunity and the trend will be to increase the prices of consumer products," adds Muço.
The Central Bank predicts that by 2026, inflation will be within the target, at 3%, an acceptable level for price changes according to this institution./ TCH
