Rinasi, the success story with the Albanian flag
Tirana International Airport /

It is interesting that the economic, financial, management and standard records have been broken by an Albanian company, which is today not just a partner of the world leaders of aeronautics and international civil transport, but also a partner of tourism giants...

In these 33 years, since Albania abandoned communism and embraced capitalism, the biggest success story with an Albanian signature is Rinas Airport.

This gate, which has become the engine of the country's economy, also constitutes the glamorous flag of Albanian business, competing strongly with Belgrade, which for years and years has been the largest airport in the Balkans.

The construction of the new runway for interoceanic flights turns Tirana International Airport into a great power, not only regionally, but also European.

Rinasi, the success story with the Albanian flag

And to think that this history is quite new, and taken from a dark legacy of foreign management, when Rinas was known as the 'forbidden apple' for the ordinary citizens of this country.

Today, Tirana International Airport is one of the most low-cost terminals in the region and beyond, where three of the most powerful low-cost companies on the continent have hangars.

Accordingly Wiz Air with the Hungarian flag, which is a well-known and powerful European company; the giant Ryanair, as well as the Austrian 'Lauda' that owns the legend of Formula 1: Nicky Lauda.

Rinasi entered the era of transition, as a rusty station of communism, and then in the 2000s it was taken over by a German company. Which turned 'Tirana International Airport' into the terminal with the most expensive tickets in the region, where it unjustifiably harassed Albanian immigrants coming to their homeland.

It didn't take long, and alternative airports like Podgorica and Skopje, took a big slice of the Albanian clientele, precisely because of their cheaper offers.

The Germans then sold it to the Chinese, who did the same. But less than 5 years ago, the Albanian flag was raised in Rinas, and a local company like 'Kastrati' took over the management of Albania's most important gateway to the world.

It didn't take long and the myth of the 'forbidden apple' was dispelled, and today Rinas is one of the cheapest European airports on the continent.

Which brought the return of our emigrants, travelers from Kosovo, but above all the boom of tourists from all over the world.

Albania's tourist boom, in the past two years, has been based precisely on the perfect, friendly and quite economical management of 'Tirana International Airport', which has the core of its flights for the popular and not rich customers. Although there are offers and luxury services from charter or first class, where millionaires have felt like in fairy tales.

In 33 years, there is not only an Albanian company, but no company operating in Albania, that has achieved such an important success. Last year alone, it registered 7 million passengers. A frightening figure for any global consortium, where the income has brought blessings not only to the management of the airport but to the whole country.

Until today, all the large foreign companies that have managed the large natural resources in the country, but also the technological ones and beyond, have transferred the 'lion's share' to the countries of origin. While TIA is "Lala's 'Flag' company" as they call Shefqet Kastratin, who has invested all his energy in TIA to turn it into an Albanian excellence. An excellence that first serves people who are not rich.

It is interesting that the economic, financial, management and standard records were broken by an Albanian company, which today is not just a partner of the world leaders of aeronautics and international civil transport, but also of the summits of the tourism business.

As an illustration, exactly 'Kastrati' is one of the closest companies to the cream of capitalism in the USA. This is also shown by the close friendship of Lala and his sons with President Donald Trump and his family, where they are recently expected to be partners in other investments in Albania. / Pamphlet
