Berisha stays, Dumani leaves

No one dares to say “Berisha should leave.” There may be those who think so, but no one dares to say it.

This is the daily refrain of the leaders of the Democratic Party of Albania, starting with the Secretary General, the party's vice presidents, the members of the leadership, and anyone in this party who gives an interview, makes a comment, or articulates something in public.

Unfortunately, in this party there is no competition of ideas, no attempt to get it out of the quagmire it has fallen into, or any thought to rise again, because every discussion where reason and logic could participate has been replaced by a noisy chorus, where the refrain is the same: "Berisha stays." (Beyond all that, it is absurd how you can ask someone to stay without anyone first telling them that they should leave!)

What is happening in the DP is not a political effort, it is a competition of who should be more obedient to one thing. It is a parade of loyalty to a man and not to an idea. No one dares to say “Berisha must go”. There may be those who think so, but no one dares to say it.

On the other hand, the same refrain articulates an organized attack on the head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, turning him into a target of daily lynchings, as if he were their opponent and not Edi Rama. They are left to hold him accountable not for not arresting Rama before the elections (because even if he had, they would still have lost), but for not giving them victory in the May 11 elections with the pretense of a prosecutor on the table!

"Berisha stays, Dumani goes" is not simply an absurd refrain of this hot summer, but is the manifesto of a party that no longer seeks to govern, but only to maintain its seats within itself, regardless of what happens beyond its own backyard.

All this comes as a result of the fact that the DP has transformed into a party that has turned loyalty to Berisha into a condition for political advancement and career advancement.

First of all, it happens because in September, positions within the party will be divided only according to this criterion: whoever shouted the loudest, Berisha stays, and whoever shouted the loudest, Dumani goes.

Wait and see. The DP is no longer in competition with Edi Rama. It is in competition with itself, as to who is more vocal in a battle it has lost before it even started.
