Convinced that the invitation would be voted for by everyone, Rama swam proudly in a sea of political exaltation, attacking the opposition, which was swayed by the idea that “the American landing will not happen.” He could not contain his pleasure at seeing the opposition “vote as they did for Trump’s invitation to him,” that “he will not go to America with a CIA helicopter, but will be welcomed with an escort and a red carpet, to take him to the White House”…
The opposition, devastated by long oppositionism, has pinned its hopes on "non-political actors" to remove Rama from power. In a desperate situation, it devoted itself to an unnecessary narrative, according to which the Americans will remove Rama, that Venezuela will be repeated, etc. etc. For Rama, accusations about the quality of governance are enough and excessive, while "anti-Trumpism" was a difficult bet to become a cause.
This made the political struggle not remain within the boundaries of the quality of governance, but a competition of “who loves America more”. Seeing himself victorious in the latter already, Rama attacked the opposition like hawks on a wounded chicken that cannot be satisfied by pulling out its intestines. A leader must know how to manage both hatred and fame, both failure and success, if this invitation is to be called such.
