This day of tribute to the Prime Minister's "friend from other times", brought back to mind his note, which many media outlets called "The Prime Minister's Homage to Max Velon", which was a duel without an opponent.
According to his friend the Prime Minister:
"Max's pictures were a painful mutilation, his colors a tiring obstacle, his poems a tiring impasse, or his opinions a divisive tone."
While the writer expressed his conviction that anyone who encounters his painting may ask "who is this Max Velo?", other contemporaries believe that his name will be engraved on the pedestal of free intellectuals, without occult interests and without a desperate desire for power.
Fluent, honest about what he thought about a "friend" who was also his public opponent, the Prime Minister's writing actually screamed at the writer himself, screaming that he "suffers from Hubris syndrome", a dangerous cocktail of self-confidence, arrogance and pride that is fueled by power and your personal authoritarian predisposition.
Zheji was also a friend of another time. And so will everyone be. In power, the authoritarian man cannot stand people with different ideas and is allergic to fierce debates. Power creates a mental framework that does not allow the creation of strong bonds, for this reason all friends will belong to other times, even the leader reduced to a lonely being has inevitable cynicism.
I knew Max a little, Zhej just as little, and I know the leader even less every day.
But "Max's love for himself," or "Zheji's lack of spiritual peace," could never be as destructive, corrosive as the radical transformation that compromises the mind, emotions, and consequently the way the man in power sees and evaluates everything around him.
