"Kurum" hastened to refute the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, saying that it has not exported waste. This is partially true, but it is even worse for "Kurum". He has sold leftovers...
Albania is facing a serious problem, not only related to the international transport of hazardous waste, which requires an investigation into this case, but also similar practices over the years, to understand what our industry has done with this type of waste.
After the problem appeared in the international media, it was clearly seen that all parties are trying to show that they are in order with their affairs, in fact leaving an open path for 100 containers to leave Albania, outside the standards.
In fact, we must say openly that these are the waste produced by the foundry of the "Kurum" Company in the former Metallurgical Plant of Elbasan. And it is not that it produced only this time, but since when was it created.
For the disposal of hazardous waste, there are disposal standards that are costly and therefore the foundry industry hunts poor countries for development in order to escape those standards.
In this particular case, "Kurum" hastened to escape responsibility by revealing more clearly the scheme of how to get rid of these wastes. "Kurum" hastened to refute the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, saying that it has not exported waste.
This is partially true, but it is even worse for "Kurum". He has sold waste to a licensed exporter, presenting it in the sales document as non-hazardous waste. We all understand that the one who was "sold" is clear about what he bought.
Even worse, these "non-hazardous" wastes have been deposited on the piers of the Port of Durrës in an open environment, endangering the lives of people who work there. Being an open stock, they do not need to go through the scanner, and thus the path has been created for how these go out of Albania without disturbing anyone.
In this case they were captured and must be brought back here, along with the problem of how to dispose of them and who is responsible for this whole story.
It is clear beyond any discussion that the producer of these wastes is the company "Kurum" and it is also the party obliged to implement the protocols and dispose of them, which of course cost money.
Other institutions of the Albanian state must be coordinated to supervise this process, which will obviously significantly change the efficiency of the metallurgical industry in Albania, which seems efficient, also because of these maneuvers, which risk penalizing the Albanian state as well.
On this occasion, we calm down Berisha, who is not leaving anything unslandered, but the name of "Kurum" is spoken. Apparently, since he "forgave" the four best hydropower plants in Albania, the ones on the Mat River and the ones in Bistrica, while he was running away from power, he doesn't have the heart to attack this one as well, as he curses every businessman who doesn't pays or sponsors his son's businesses.
On the contrary, he acts as if he doesn't know that the remains are from "Kurum" and hopes to make fake news again like those of 2017 with containers that, according to him, were "buried in Pukë".
The investigation launched by the Durrës prosecutor's office will naturally determine the culprits of this case and they will be penalized according to the law. Beyond this case, Albania should standardize the disposal scheme of these wastes which are part of the metallurgical industry in the country.
It's money work. It's just that Albania doesn't have to pay this money as a fine, but the industry that produces it.
