The report reflects the work of all governments around the world in the fight against money laundering and the fight against drugs and organized crime and is a long-standing practice of the State Department.
We were all expecting good news in mid-March about Sali Berisha from the USA. Several warnings were made. Këlliçi said that he would leave for the USA in mid-March. Others said that he would not leave, but would only be removed from the "non grata" status. Today, truly important news came, they did not disappoint us!
The US government has today published a report on money laundering in the world and has praised the justice bodies in Albania, especially SPAK, for initiating the criminal process against Sali Berisha and his son-in-law for money laundering, emphasizing that Mr. Berisha is sanctioned by the US for major corruption and benefiting from the power of his family members.
The report states: “ In September 2024, SPAK charged former Prime Minister and person declared ineligible under section 7031(c) of the State Department Foreign Operations Authorization Act of 2021, Sali Berisha, with corruption for official actions that benefited his family’s interests. SPAK also charged his son-in-law with corruption and money laundering. SPAK seized real estate, bank accounts, and the son-in-law’s shares in companies linked to the corruption.”
The report reflects the work of all governments around the world in the fight against money laundering and the fight against drugs and organized crime and is a long-standing practice of the State Department.
Of course, this is not an extraordinary development, but it shows that Sali Berisha is not having it so easy to undo his black file in Washington.
The only news that came about him in mid-March was precisely the confirmation that he is persona non grata and congratulations for the justice system that has initiated criminal proceedings against him.
I don't know if LaCivita can cast some spell on Secretary Rubio and have this paragraph deleted by May 11, but the damage is done now that it's been published. It seems LaCivita is not as vigilant as he should be. Aside from his visit to Albania and the recommendation he made to form a coalition with Gjuzi, there is no other notable achievement so far.
And the problem is that Berisha has a habit of paying advisors not to advise him, but to advise them. This was evident during LaCivita's trip to Albania, where he read a statement that Berisha gave him and did not recommend any of his statements to Berisha.
Now this confirmation from the State Department that Berisha is "non grata" and the praise for the justice system that has initiated criminal proceedings against him, is not something new for Albanians, but it is a great mockery of the Democrats by Berisha, who presented his "magician" as a miracle worker who would rehabilitate him in the US before he lost the elections in May.
Now either they've cast a spell on LaCivita and he hasn't been paying attention, or he doesn't even know that he's Berisha's "magician" in Washington.
