There is no need for analysis, reflection, calculations or spinning of this kind. See how the party leader behaved when he was faced with the election figures and you will understand everything. You will understand why the party is silent as it shrank by 250 thousand votes compared to four years ago. You will understand why Berisha and the others who have already been appointed deputies are so calm and are waging an imaginary war with the ballot boxes, just to get over the heat.
You will understand why stagnation, not rotation or renewal of the leadership elite, has been the alpha and omega of the Democratic Party since they drove the losing leader from his office with fire extinguishers and ladders three years ago. You will finally understand why Edi Rama has the luxury of not leaving a meeting or conference (or even a wedding) without attending in Europe and the US, leaving his own people in Tirana to deal with the opposition's electoral folklore.
The bad thing about the technological era we live in is that nothing that is said publicly disappears anymore. Anyone can see and prove how little these words match today with Sali Berisha's position in office. They can also see what Gazmend Bardhi declared three years ago and compare it with what he is saying these hours in favor of Berisha's position even after he was 33 mandates behind Edi Rama in the elections.
“The Basha Article” is today the true totem that sustains today’s DP, its philosophy of continuity and the cult of the individual. If there were no special article for the dismissal of the DP chairman, we would not know how to quickly and succinctly define his refusal to leave office. The article in question does not foresee how difficult the elections were for the party, how thieves the other side was, and how specific “circumstances” became an obstacle to victory in the electoral race. This article, according to the insistence and ironic jokes that Berisha used at the moment it was unanimously approved and cursing “Lul brava”, should not have left any path for justifications. That is what Berisha and others wanted at the time. Rigorous, decisive and unappealable. The irony of May 11 proved that the stone thrown high at that moment quickly fell on the heads of the proposers of the article. Time and gravity always win, say the laws of physics.
Is there a greater honor for Lulzim Basha than to create a statutory provision with his name that provides for automatic dismissal in the event of an election loss, and then when this circumstance arises, you publicly and insistently reject it! Basha achieved an electoral result that borders on the comical, but he should be satisfied with one thing: those who removed him have turned him into a symbol of their irresponsibility.
