The probability that Porto Romano will compete with the Port of Piraeus in 10 years is almost zero. But after 100 years, the chances are not small. And when new ports are built, they think about 100 years, not just 10 years…

Porto Romano as an alternative to the current port of Durres

The current port of Durrës is sufficient for the current situation, it meets the needs of port imports of Albania and Kosovo. But there is no prospect of deepening and expansion for the next 100 years. The sandy coast of the Bay of Durrës does not allow for significant deepening of the port, while its expansion would lead to a destruction of the urban-tourist-archaeological perspective of the entire area near the sea. The centuries-old experience of Mediterranean ports shows us that old ports have turned into yacht ports, while modern commercial ports (which today require depth and width) have been built somewhere further away.

With the start of the construction of Corridor 8, the need to build a large commercial port near Durrës arises. And Porto Romano is a perfect candidate, in the next 100 years it can be deepened and expanded in stages, until it reaches the Port of Piraeus.

Porto Romano as a long-term competitor to the Port of Piraeus

The Port of Piraeus is the largest port in Greece and one of the largest in Europe. The company that currently manages the port is 74% owned by the Chinese state-owned company COSCO (which aimed to take control of key ports in the Panama Canal, but was thwarted by the strong intervention of the Trump Administration).

At the Port of Piraeus, COSCO brings the vast majority of Asian containers destined for the Balkans and Central Europe. And through Corridor 10, containers are transported by train and truck on the Piraeus-Skopje-Belgrade-Budapest-Bratislava-Vienna-Prague-Krakow line, and beyond.

With the construction of Corridor 8 and Porto Romano (possibly also the Vlora Triport), and with their maximum capacity reached after 100 years, the cost of bringing goods to Skopje will be halved, compared to the cost of Piraeus-Skopje transport. And thus we can compete with Piraeus for the transport of Asian goods to Belgrade, Budapest, Bratislava, Vienna, Prague, Krakow, and beyond…

    Je në kontraditë me veten, por nejse, se "leksioni" e përmba. "Porti aktual i Durrësit është i mjaftushëm për situatën aktuale plotëson nevojat e importeve portuale të Shqipërisë dhe Kosovës". Dhe vazhdon: "Porto Romano është një kandidat perfekt, në 100 vjetët e ardhshme , mund të thellohet dhe të zgjerohet me faza,deri sa të arrijë Portin e Pireut". Po pse Porti i Durrësit i jepet Alabarit pa konkurim? Kur Ai i plotësoka nevojat, pse Porti i ri i Porto Romano duhet të ndërtohet me faza?Qartazi, je një shërbyes i Kryeministrit dhe interesave Greke dhe Kineze në dëm të interesave Kombëtare Shqiptare dhe partneritetit të Kombit Shqiptar me partnerët gjeostrategjik. Po të isha Prokuror do të hapja hetim kryesisht bazuar mbi këtë deklarim. Ku punon Ti , nga kush paguesh, çfarë pasurish posedon ti dhe rrethi jot shoqëror dhe familjar, përfshi edhe Kryeministrin, të cilit Ti i bën fresk , por jo me mallin tënd.
