Belinda and Rama would in no way allow Air Albania to withdraw from Kukësi, as this would bring a political failure for their government and for them personally.

If you remember years ago, our Prime Minister tied the donkey at Kukes airport. He had decided at all costs to bring there, as he used to say, "the rocks of London". And for this he also organized a pretty big show where at the occasion ceremony Rama declared "I want to thank the director of the Wizz Air company for his willingness to see Kukës as an opportunity, because at first he was skeptical, but then all the analysis done it turned out in favor of the airport".

While the executive director of Wizz Air declared "From Kukësi we will connect with Vienna, Munich, Baden and Basel".
And according to him these destinations would be carried out every week.

But from then until today, this company made only one flight a week from Kukes airport and that only during the summer months, since the airport is closed in winter.

And after a year has passed since the Prime Minister's show in Kukes, the company Wizz Air declares at the beginning of this week that we are leaving behind that "Wizz Air confirms that after a careful review and analysis, we have decided to SUSPEND operations to/from Kukës International Airport (KFZ) as a result of the challenges presented by the external environment, in particular the terrain and the weather, which affect the operational performance of our business and lead to customer disruptions".

It took the company a year to finally realize that for this type of aircraft the company operates, the A320 is impossible to fly due to the terrain and climatic conditions. And these two are closely related to each other.

Even in an earlier article, I emphasized that Kukes airport belongs to the airports that are categorized as having a high difficulty, which in the field of aviation are known as category C airports. And according to ICAO-International Civil Aviation Organization, this type of flight airports must be performed by pilots trained specifically for this type of airport, and due to difficult meteorological conditions, it must be performed under instrumental conditions, i.e. by means of instruments.

While the flight in Kukës was carried out only in visual conditions. But for it to be carried out with instruments, the airport must also be equipped with a special system called ILS Instrument Landing System. But Kukes airport does not have such a system. The company that owns this airport has not preferred to make such an investment. Investment which costs 30 million dollars, as much as the entire investment in the Kukes airport itself.

But for the flight to become visual it must be performed according to some special rules where the pilot must be able to see outside the cockpit, control the altitude of the aircraft, navigate avoiding various natural obstacles such as mountains, hills, buildings and trees.

Dhe duke qenë se edhe te ne aplikohen rregullat e Evropës të cilat njihen si Rregullat e Standartizuara Evropiane të Ajrit ku sipas të cilave përcaktohet se: avioni duhet të fluturojë në një lartësi minimale prej 150 m mbi çdo pengesë brenda një rreze prej 150 m, përveç me leje, ose kur ngrihen dhe ulen. Nëse një avion po fluturon mbi një zonë të mbingarkuar (qytet ose vendbanim) ai duhet të fluturojë mjaftueshëm lart, në mënyrë që në rast të dështimit të motorrit, të jetë në gjendje të zbresë në mënyrë të sigurt dhe nuk duhet të fluturojë më pas se 300 mbi objekt më të lartë brenda 600 m nga avioni.

Dhe po sipas këtyre rregullave në fluturim vizual, avioni duhet të qëndrojë 1500 m larg çdo reje horizontalisht dhe 300 m vertikalisht.

Duke u munduar të bëjë gjithë këto lloj cirqesh një avion i tillë 65 tonë do të shmanget nga kursi i fluturimit në Kukës dhe nuk do të ulet dot. Ose do të rrezikojë uljen duke sjellë edhe rreziqe të mëdha si për avionin dhe pasagjerët në të, por edhe për vetë kompaninë dhe aeroportin.

Pas një viti Wizz Air me gjithë dëshirën e tyre u detyruan që të nxjerrin bllof edhe ministren e infrastrukturës, Belinda Ballukun ku në 2019 deklaronte “Pozita e mirë gjeografike dhe rëndësia e zhvillimit të këtij Aeroporti ka tërhequr vëmendjen e linjave të mëdha Low Cost, ndër të cilat mund të përmendim Wizz Air”, si dhe vetë Ramën në pjesën e tij të deklaratës “e gjithë analiza e bërë rezultoi në favor të aeroportit”.

Currently, only the airline Air Albania flies to Kukës with only one flight per week and with the same A320 type aircraft. Which flies under the same conditions as Wizz Air, but since this is an Albanian company, it cannot be withdrawn from Kukës like Wizz Air, as it is under the command and control of Belinda and Rama. And they would in no way allow Air Albania to withdraw from Kukësi, as this would bring a political failure for their government and for them personally.

Therefore, even a week after the withdrawal of Wizz Air from Kukës, neither one nor the other felt like saying a word about this truth that Wizz Air declared.
