Murder or death by overdose? The mystery of the 10th room, the last 28 minutes
The 19-year-old who lost her life

Authorities are investigating whether the 19-year-old could have been saved and the role of those involved.

Greek authorities are trying to reconstruct the events of the tragic night a few days ago, when the 19-year-old of Albanian origin, identified as Myrto, lost her life.

According to the investigation, three people have been detained for her death. It is suspected that the young woman had consumed cocaine twice, which is expected to be confirmed by toxicological tests.

One of the main questions being examined is whether Myrto could have been saved if her three acquaintances had not left her alone and unaided on the sidewalk of Argostoli's central square.

The investigation has focused on a 28-minute period, which is considered crucial to understanding what happened in a hotel room identified as “room 10”. According to the evidence, at 04:02 in the morning, the girl appeared in good condition during a video call with a 66-year-old man, who then transferred 220 euros to her through the IRIS system. The content of this call remains unclear.

At around 04:20, a 26-year-old man called for help by knocking on the door of an adjacent room. During this time, according to investigators, the 19-year-old woman lost consciousness, although the exact moment has not yet been determined. At 04:31, security cameras recorded the young man carrying the unconscious girl.

She was taken to Argostoli hospital with no signs of life. Medical personnel performed standard resuscitation procedures, including CPR and intubation, but the intervention was unsuccessful.

According to reports by the Greek media STAR, there are suspicions that the victim had consumed cocaine, which is expected to be confirmed by toxicological analyses. Also, former police officer Giorgos Kalliakmanis stated that in this case there may have been attempts at exploitation, mentioning a possible scenario of the girl's involvement in prostitution. This statement constitutes an interpretation and has not been officially confirmed by the investigations.

According to Greek media, the 66-year-old man who transferred 220 euros is considered a key witness.

According to statements by the former honorary president of the Southeastern Attica Police Union, Giorgos Kalliakmanis, reported by STAR media, the case is linked to a wider drug problem on the island. He also highlighted the role of the 66-year-old who transferred the money after the video call.

In the same statement, he mentioned that there may have been a plan to involve the young woman in prostitution, which was not realized due to the tragic ending. This assessment is an interpretation and has not been officially confirmed by the authorities.

Also mentioned in the case is another 18-year-old girl, who was in room 11, next to the victim's room.

According to the newspaper Espresso, a person considered key to the investigation, who lives in a large city in the Peloponnese, had a relationship with Myrto before the incident and had expressed objections to her company with two of the young men involved.

According to the same sources, this person had attempted to remove him from these societies, while warning the young men to cut off contact with him. It is suspected that these warnings may have influenced their behavior and efforts to avoid involvement in the case after the incident.

Authorities are also investigating why the young woman was left out and the role of the 66-year-old man from Preveza, who sent her 220 euros without having any previous acquaintance with her.

The matter remains under investigation, as authorities aim to fully clarify the circumstances.
