The Tirana court remanded in prison the six people arrested by the police a few days ago, as being involved in the kidnapping and holding of a man hostage.
Brothers Sulejman and Klinton Sina, Idajet Mashollari, Bajram Ibraliu and Nikoleta Begolli were remanded in custody by Judge Oleda Lice.
One of the arrested, Sulejman Sina, appeared in court this Friday and admitted his guilt in relation to this incident.
Five of the arrested are accused of forcibly taking and holding a 68-year-old man hostage in a suburban area and threatening his wife, in order to extort 2 million lek.
Preliminary investigations and the review of video footage showed that the two brothers, in collaboration with Idajet Mashollari, forcibly took the 68-year-old man into a vehicle on "George Bush" Street, who they then took to an abandoned apartment in the village of Kakunjë.
These citizens called the 68-year-old's wife and threatened her with 2 million lek, an amount she gave to Bajram Ibrali in Sauk, the capital.
After the incident was revealed, the police seized 1 million and 746 thousand lek inside the vehicle driven by Sulejman Sina, where citizen Nikoleta Begolli was a passenger.
