Tirana Police have arrested 5 people suspected of kidnapping and holding a 68-year-old man hostage, as well as blackmailing his wife, in order to obtain a considerable amount of money.
The incident occurred on April 29, 2025, when the suspected perpetrators kidnapped the victim on "George W. Bush" Street and then took him to an abandoned apartment in the village of Kakunjë, demanding 20 million lek from his family for his release.
The police have made it possible to identify and arrest the perpetrators: Sulejman Sina, Klinton Sina, Idajet Mashollari, Bajram Ibraliu, Nikoleta Begolli, all from Tirana.
During searches in the apartments and a vehicle used by the perpetrators, 1,746,000 lek were seized, suspected to be part of the amount obtained through blackmail.
"They forcibly took and held hostage a 68-year-old man in a suburban area, and threatened his wife, in order to take 2,000,000 lek. Five citizens who collaborated in committing this crime were arrested a few hours later."

Immediately after information provided by police intelligence that on 29.04.2025, some citizens had forcibly taken a citizen, whom they had held hostage and in exchange for his freedom they had taken a large sum of money, specialists from the Serious Crimes Investigation Sector organized the work to identify and arrest the perpetrators.
As a result of the quick and professional actions carried out within the framework of the "Imediat" operation, 5 suspected citizens implicated in this case were arrested, specifically: citizens SS, 31 years old, KS, 21 years old (brothers), IM, 21 years old, BI, 57 years old and NB, 32 years old, all residents of Tirana. From the investigations, the video footage and the evidence obtained, it resulted that citizens SS, KS and IM, on "George ë. Bush" street, forcibly took citizen EA, 68 years old, into a vehicle and held hostage, in an abandoned apartment in the village of Kakunjë. And then they called his wife, whom they blackmailed for the life of the 68-year-old, demanding the sum of 2,000,000 lek. This amount was handed over to citizen BI, in the Sauk area.
Following the actions to fully clarify the incident, searches were carried out in the homes of these citizens as well as in a vehicle in which citizen SS and citizen NB were traveling, where 1,746,000 lek suspected of having been obtained through threats from the wife of citizen EA were found and seized.
"The procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action," the police announced.
