A person has been arrested by Tirana Police for allegedly aiding the perpetrator of the murder of Renato Hoxhaj in Vlora.
It is learned that Erlis Mehmetaj from Tropoja was arrested after an investigation by the Vlora Police, which identified the car in which the killer was driving.
Mehmeti was friends with Roan Brahimi, who was executed in May 2024 in Greece. Investigations show that he had given this car to the perpetrator before the crime, while the vehicle's license plates had also been changed. Mehmeti's cell phone was also seized, which is expected to reveal information about the murder of Renato Hoxhaj in Vlora.
His assassination is suspected to have been ordered by the United Arab Emirates.
How did the incident happen?
Renato Hoxhaj was found dead on the morning of April 27 in the “Hajro Çakërri” neighborhood in Vlora near his apartment. He was executed with four bullets, two in the head and two others in the body. The 58-year-old worked as a guard at a construction site near his home.
The police have questioned 5 people, including his cohabitant. She told the media that the 58-year-old had not expressed concerns about possible conflicts but had remained silent in recent days. She testified before the investigation group that she had heard several shots, but had thought they were fireworks.
