A British tourist has accused an Albanian that the latter raped her while they were swimming and tried to repeat the act in the hotel.
According to foreign media, the 20-year-old tourist stated that the incident happened on Saturday while she and the 23-year-old man were swimming at Glystra beach, on the east coast of Rhodes.
The young woman said that the Albanian took her to her hotel room where he attacked her and tried to rape her a second time. The tourist stated that they had met two weeks ago and had exchanged messages on WhatsApp, until they decided last week to meet in person.
The Albanian has stated before the authorities that the sexual relationship took place with the approval of both parties before they ate and went to the room to continue again.
The 20-year-old said they met in her hotel room on the afternoon of June 3 and decided to take her brother's motorbike to go to the beach to swim. According to her, the Albanian attacked her while they were at sea and raped her.
She then walked to the beach, got dressed and begged him to take her back to the hotel. When they arrived there, the 23-year-old followed her to her room, attacked her and tried to rape her again. This time, she was able to push him and force him to leave, the tourist declared.
She then left the hotel and reported the incident to the police.
The latter launched a search operation against the Albanian who was arrested a few hours later. Currently, the 23-year-old is facing charges of rape, which could punish him with 10 years in prison.
He has been released, but he cannot leave the Greek state. The investigation is still ongoing.
