An Albanian criminal group has been sentenced to prison in the UK after using the online real estate platform Rightmove to identify and select luxury properties as robbery targets.
The gang, made up of six people, are suspected of carrying out at least 59 burglaries in the east Cheshire area, stealing jewellery and branded goods worth up to £3m. They used ladders to gain access to the first floors of flats, mainly targeting isolated properties near rural or woodland areas to make it easier to escape.
According to investigations, one of the members, Endrit Nikolli, had formed a relationship with British citizen Jade Tubb, who had compared their relationship to the famous criminal couple Bonnie and Clyde.
Also involved in this criminal activity were Kristian Gropcaj (30 years old), George Pepa (31 years old), Krisjian Dedndreaj (28 years old) and Sidorjan Lleshi (26 years old). Judge Patrick Thompson emphasized that the targets were carefully chosen due to the possibility of finding valuables, while the robberies were carried out mainly at night, often when residents were inside, causing not only material damage, but also psychological consequences, especially to children.
The investigation began in October 2024 and was conducted by several British police structures, including Cheshire Police, in collaboration with the forces of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Staffordshire.
During the police operations, dozens of luxury items were seized, including 13 designer handbags and 14 wristwatches, as well as mobile phones with hundreds of photos of the stolen items.
According to Chief Inspector Dave Worthington, the group used Google and Rightmove to analyse the structure of properties and select the most favourable targets.
At the end of the trial:
Kristian Gropcaj was sentenced to 10 years in prison
Krisjian Dedndreaj and George Pepa to 9 years in prison each
Sidorjan Lleshi to 10 years and 9 months in prison
Jade Tubb was sentenced to 1 year in prison, suspended for 2 years
British authorities have made public appeals to identify the owners of the suspected stolen items, as it is suspected that a significant portion of them have been sold.
