The fire that broke out in a building near the "Mother Teresa" Hospital in Tirana has been going on for more than four hours, while several apartments are still engulfed in flames.
According to data from the field, the intervention of firefighting forces is continuing without interruption, in an effort to isolate active fires and avoid further spread of the fire to other parts of the building.
Dozens of forces, including over 50 firefighters, civil emergency services and the Armed Forces, are involved in the operation. The intervention is taking place both from the ground and from the air, with Cougar helicopters continuing to drop water on the most problematic areas.
Despite intensive efforts, flames in several apartments remain active, making the operation more complex due to the spread to the facade and structure of the building.
So far, several people with signs of asphyxia have been reported, who have received medical assistance at the QSUT, while ambulances have been placed on standby for any emergency.
Authorities indicate that the operation will continue until the fire is completely neutralized, while in parallel an investigation is expected to begin to clarify the causes of this event.
