Microcredit affair, GJKKO does not allow Arben Meskuti to leave the cell

The Criminal Court of Kosovo has imprisoned one of the architects of the microcredit fraud.

Arben Meskutin, accused of a criminal group, who is also the owner of several financial companies that set up a pyramid scheme, has been left in prison.

Meskuti had requested the termination of the security measure "prison arrest", but his request was rejected by the Criminal Court this Monday.

Announcement of the GJKKO:

1. The applicant Arben Meskuti on 20.01.2025 submitted to the Court the request with the subject: "Declaration of the loss of effect (cancellation) of the security measure "arrest in prison", provided for by Article 238 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, determined by decision no. 1313, dated 21.05.2024 of the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Tirana and the property security measure determined by decision no. 4448, dated 18.07.2024 of the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Tirana, because these security measures were not imposed within 10 days by the competent Court; 2. Their immediate removal, based on Articles 88 and 262 of the Code of Criminal Procedure".

2. At the end of the trial, the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, with a panel composed of Judge Erjon Bani, based on the Unifying and Uniting Decision No. 55, dated 13.10.2021, with Decision No. 69, dated 27.01.2025, decided:

1. The rejection of the request.

2. The court costs shall be borne by the applicant.

3. An appeal may be filed against this decision with the Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime within 5 days, starting from the day after the notification of this decision.
