An accident resulting in the death of a pedestrian occurred on the evening of February 18 on the Lushnje-Fier highway, near the village of Rrapëz.
The victim has been identified as Skënder Maledhi, 70 years old. According to preliminary data, a taxi hit him while he was trying to cross from one side of the highway to the other. The elderly man died at the scene.
Traffic police arrived at the scene to manage traffic and begin investigative actions into the circumstances of the accident. The emergency service arrived to carry out further procedures and transport the body to the morgue.
Authorities are working to clarify the full dynamics of the event.
"Around 19:25, on the Fier-Lushnjë road, citizen G. Sh., 52 years old, while driving a vehicle, hit a pedestrian, citizen SM, about 70 years old, who, as a result of the collision, lost his life at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, citizen G. Sh., was escorted to the Police Station for further action.
"The investigation team is at the scene and is working to fully clarify the circumstances of the accident," the police announced
