The Police Supervision Agency (AMP) has launched investigations to verify the actions and inactions of police officers in Durrës, following complaints from residents of neighborhood no. 15, in the former Këneta area.
According to citizens' claims, police structures have not reacted in time to repeated reports of high-speed vehicle traffic in this area, raising concerns about road safety.
The investigation follows the tragic accident that occurred on Sunday afternoon, in which two minors lost their lives and another was seriously injured, after being hit by a vehicle driven by 57-year-old Nikoll Radaçi, suspected of being drunk.
The event has raised doubts about the response of institutions and whether appropriate measures have been taken to prevent the risk, despite previous complaints from residents.
The AMP is expected to verify whether there was a breach of duty by police officers and whether procedures for handling complaints were followed, while the possibility of legal liability for the responsible persons is not excluded.
Meanwhile, a day after the event, the director of Durrës Police, Skënder Hita, decided to suspend the local police chain of command from duty until the investigation is completed.
