A powerful fire has engulfed a building near the "Mother Teresa" Hospital in Tirana, putting all emergency structures in the country into motion.
The Armed Forces have also been engaged to assist the firefighting forces, and are actively participating in the operation. An army helicopter has been involved in the intervention, working from the air to extinguish the flames, while military personnel are on the ground to support the operation and help manage the situation.
The fire has engulfed the facade of a building in the area of "Farmacia 10", on the "5 Maji" axis, opposite the QSUT. Despite the rapid response of firefighters, the flames were intense for several minutes, while the entire area was covered in thick smoke.
As a result of the smoke, four people – two citizens and two firefighters – presented to the QSUT emergency room with signs of asphyxiation.
The joint operation between firefighters and the army continues, with a focus on bringing the flames under complete control and preventing them from spreading to other parts of the building or surrounding facilities.
