Italian police have released footage of Operation "Ura" conducted by Italian authorities and the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK), where 52 arrest warrants were issued, while millions of euros were seized.
Footage released by Italian authorities shows the seizure of large quantities of cocaine, significant amounts of cash, and the arrest of several suspects. Assets worth several million euros, including movable and immovable assets in both countries, were seized during the operation.
Albanian police forces, agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (BKH) and representatives of the Italian Anti-Mafia Investigative Directorate (DIA) were involved in this extensive operation. The investigations were led by SPAK prosecutor Vladimir Mara.
According to Italian media, the list of suspects also includes police officers, lawyers and people with criminal records. They face charges of participation in an international drug trafficking network and abuse of office.
Confidential sources indicate that among the most well-known names for whom an arrest warrant has been issued is Ervis Doçi, known as "Visi i Pojës", a well-known figure in Albanian justice. Last year, during a search of his apartment, around 3 million euros were seized as material evidence.
An arrest warrant has also been issued for Ligor Çombashi, administrator of a travel company, as well as for a lawyer in Durrës identified as Armand Tragaj.
Further details about this operation will be made public at a joint press conference, which will take place at 11:30, with the participation of the head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, the Chief Prosecutor of Bari Roberto Rossi, the Director of the Italian Anti-Mafia General Michele Carbone, as well as the Eurojust representative for Italy, Gianluca Forlani.
Operation "URA" was developed with the support of Interpol, the Security Expert's Office in Tirana, the State Police, and under the coordination of Eurojust, the National Anti-Mafia and Anti-Terrorism Directorate of Rome, the Bari Prosecutor's Office, and the Special Prosecutor's Office in Tirana.
This action is part of a joint investigation launched months ago between Albanian and Italian authorities, which aims to dismantle Albanian criminal organizations involved in international drug trafficking. The investigations have revealed a consolidated trafficking structure, connecting the Balkans with Puglia and further with Northern European countries.
