Other information has been made public regarding the robbery that occurred on Thursday afternoon at a FiBank branch in Tirana. The perpetrator, Bardhyl Fusha, has stated that he had around 70 million lek in old unpaid debts to workers, due to his activity as an entrepreneur in the construction field.
According to sources, the 58-year-old claimed that he had chosen this particular branch because he had made payments there and was familiar with the environment.
Fusha, originally from Gramsh and residing in Tirana, approached the bank in his vehicle. After parking the vehicle, he entered the branch premises armed.
It is learned that at the moment of entry, the private security guard was not near the door, while the metal detector signaled the presence of a metallic object. According to sources, the 58-year-old took out a Kalashnikov-type firearm from his bag and fired once at the floor.
He managed to take about 8 million old lek from one of the cash registers, but was arrested immediately after leaving the branch.
Officers Eduart Saliko and Ermal Çeka, who arrested the robber, stated that the 58-year-old did not resist.
Police officers explained that they were notified by a citizen who had just left the bank, adding that they were near the area.
Regarding the weapon, the suspect stated that he had owned it since 1997 and that he kept it in his apartment.
The incident is under investigation to fully clarify the circumstances and legal responsibilities.
