The Hungarian police have arrested a 60-year-old Albanian, as it is suspected that he and his son led a criminal group that transported drugs to Hungary.
On November 10, the anti-terrorist unit of the Hungarian police arrested a 60-year-old Albanian, suspected of being the leader of a criminal group that regularly smuggled drugs into Hungary.
According to the investigations, it is suspected that the head of the Balkan drug gang, NA (60) and his son led a criminal organization in which Hungarian citizens also participated.
According to the police, the suspects transported drugs from Kosovo and Albania to Hungary, delivered them to Hungarian dealers who distributed them throughout the country, and then a Hungarian national took the money to the NA drug boss living in Serbia.
According to the police, cannabis was mostly smuggled into Hungary and one shipment contained 10 kilograms of this drug.
The leader of this gang was sentenced in Hungary to seven years in prison for other crimes and was deported from that country for eight years. After his conviction last summer he disappeared, Hungarian authorities were looking for him and an international warrant was issued against him.
The Hungarian police state that the Serbian police were also looking for him because he is suspected of being a member of a criminal organization that smuggled heroin, cocaine and cannabis into the European Union through Serbia. During the cooperation with the Serbian police, the Hungarian colleagues learned that NA is probably located in Hungary.
Due to the suspicion that he possesses weapons, the Anti-terrorist unit of the Hungarian Police was engaged and arrested him on November 10 in Budapest.
Hungarian police searched locations linked to the suspect and confiscated property suspected to be related to the case.
