The Durrës police arrested Regan Merdani, 32 years old, who was sentenced to 3 years in prison for creating fraudulent VAT schemes.
"Regan Merdani, 32 years old, a resident of Tirana, who was located and arrested in neighborhood no. 4, after the Court of Appeal, Tirana, sentenced him to 3 years in prison, for the criminal offense of "Creating fraudulent schemes related to value added tax".
"Investigations for the 32-year-old began in 2016, and as a result, it was proven that this citizen committed VAT fraud through a business in the fields of production and trade of food products," the police explained.
Regan Merdani was part of a fraud scheme with VAT invoices that brought the state about 5 million euros in damage and that led 8 people to prison.
SPAK has provided data that the citizens, Klodian Zoto, Arenc Myrtezani, Regan Merdani, and several others, have organized and put into operation fraudulent schemes related to value added tax, with the aim of material profit on behalf of the concession company "Integrated Technology Waste Treatment Fier" sh.pk, which consisted of the benefit of the value added tax credit.
