The Federal Supreme Court in Brazil has issued an arrest warrant for businessman Ervin Mata, who has moved to Brazil, while the Albanian state is seeking his extradition.
The order was issued by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court of Brazil, and the decision states:
"I decree the preliminary arrest of Ervin Mata, ordering the issuance of an arrest warrant, the execution of which must be immediately communicated to this SUPREME COURT, the Ministry of Justice, Interpol and the diplomatic mission of the interested state."
Ervin Mata was declared wanted in November 2023 by order of SPAK for participation in a structured criminal group with activity in the field of drug trafficking from Latin America to Europe, while the Brazilian state is known to have issued the arrest warrant on March 11, while the decree was published on September 23. Currently, Ervin Mata has not yet been arrested.
This criminal group of 11 people sent to trial with the "Metamorphosis 2" file also includes the former deputy director of the Tirana Police, Erzen Breçani, and his son Eralbi Breçani (also Ervin Mata's brother-in-law).
According to SPAK, the criminal group is suspected of being linked to several episodes of drug trafficking seizures in the Netherlands, Brazil, Colombia, Spain and other Latin American countries towards European Union countries, as well as providing the conditions for the murder of two citizens in Albania, as well as cases of money laundering.
Elvana Gjata, Ervin Mata's partner, whose name came up several times in wiretaps as the "transferor" of money from Ervin Mata to Erzen Breçani, was also placed under investigation.
Businessman Ervin Mata is also known for the 'Blloku Massacre', an event that occurred on the evening of October 4, 2018. The conflict that occurred at the 'Monopol' bar that ended with the murder of Fabian Gaxha, also involved the 'king' of gambling, Ervis Martinaj, Mata's opponent.
Ervis Martianj was accompanied to the bar by Eljon Haten and 2 other people, while at another table, Ervin Mata, his girlfriend at the time, Elvana Gjata, Fabio Alushi, Meviol Billo and 2 others.
At around 9:30 p.m., Ervis Martin's bodyguard, Fabian Gaxha, went to the bar. As soon as Mata saw him, he asked him to explain the harassment he had done to his girlfriend, singer Elvana Gjata, and another showbiz girl.
Seeing the tension, the owner of the bar, Redi Popescu, asked Elvana to leave. The fight started when Fabiani approached and Mata punched him several times, knocking him to the ground. Then, Ervis Martini and Eljon Hate came to Fabiani's aid. This was the moment when the exchange of fire between the parties began and the moment when Meviol Bilo, a firearms expert, shot at the rival group, killing Fabian Gaxha and wounding Ervis Martini and Eljon Hate.
After several months on the run, Mata surrendered to the police where he was completely acquitted of the charges, denying that he had fired a gun at the victim or knowing who the perpetrator was.
