Three Albanians have been arrested by Spanish police after being caught red-handed with 16 kg of cocaine, worth 500,000 euros.
According to Spanish media, on September 22, officers discovered suspicious activity in a parking lot.
Officers noticed a group of men performing unusual maneuvers in the parking lot of a downtown supermarket. Suspecting they were waiting for something illegal, they decided to keep an eye out.
As they approached a van transporting objects from another car, officers decided to intervene before they left the scene.
During a search of the van and a suitcase moved between vehicles, they found 16 kilograms of cocaine.
The seized cocaine could have a value of more than 500 thousand euros on the black market.
Spanish police also seized 7,000 euros in cash and 20,000 new Albanian lek coins.
The three suspects, aged between 20 and 46 and of Albanian nationality, were arrested on charges of drug trafficking.
After they were brought before the court on September 24, the judge ordered their detention.
This discovery will be investigated by the Investigation Unit of the Gava police station, which is seeking to determine the exact role of the three detainees in this operation, as well as the origin and destination of the seized drugs. The investigation remains open to clarify all the details of the case and to dismantle possible networks involved in international drug trafficking.
