New details have emerged from Sunday evening's attack in Rrilë, Lezha, where a barbershop was shot with a hail of bullets, leaving its owner, 30-year-old Sokol Daci, injured.
According to investigative sources, it is learned that 21-year-old Merando Nikulaj, suspected of being the target of the assassination, had gone to the barbershop in the company of General Patrol officer Besart Kovaçi. The latter was detained by the police for the criminal offense of failing to report a crime.
Initially, the police stated that the officer had gone into the premises alone, but investigations revealed that he was Nikulaj's companion at the time of the incident, which led to his arrest.
The verifications show that a total of 15 cartridges were found in the officer's service weapon, while 10 spent shells were found at the scene, which raises suspicions that he fired several times during the incident. The investigation team also suspects the use of a third weapon, for which the relevant investigations have been launched.
Security cameras have captured two vehicles, an Audi and a Passat, stopping near the salon. Seven people get out of them, two of whom are armed with Kalashnikovs. Over 30 bullets were fired at the barbershop, three of which wounded the owner of the shop.
In the footage, Merando Nikulaj is seen struggling to leave, which reinforces suspicions that he may have been injured. The police are also accused of allowing him to leave.
