A 32-year-old woman lost her life, while the other, 36 years old, was seriously injured. Both jumped from the fourth floor of a building in Genoa.
They are two sisters of Albanian nationality. The tragedy happened in front of the eyes of the neighbors who heard the sound of the first woman falling in the inner courtyard and called for help, trying in vain to save the second.
Axhere Gjoni was the first to jump and after a while her older sister also jumped. The first of the two women was separating from her husband.
On January 10, the court would decide on the custody of the children. Perhaps the woman was afraid of losing her children from 3 to 9 years old. The four small children were in the house, they, with the help of the firemen, opened the door, which was locked from the inside.
According to local newspapers, the woman had separated from her husband and had reported him for abuse in the past. However, the man sentenced to 8 months in prison was not near the house this morning. He was also due to have a curfew, which expired in recent months. The older sister is in a very serious condition in the hospital of San Martino.
Referring to the local media, Axhere Gjoni, the day before the suicide, wrote a message in Arabic on social networks, waiting for the gesture: "God is waiting for me".
