The tragic accident in the Ish-kënetë area, where two children lost their lives after being hit by a vehicle, has increased citizens' sensitivity towards drivers who perform dangerous maneuvers on the road.
Another case that has alarmed residents is related to the village of Arapaj, where concerns about the violation of traffic rules have ended up at the police station. Residents are demanding that measures be taken against the driver of the vehicle, identified as 22-year-old Albi Bizgjoni.
According to residents, the young man has long become a problem for the area.
"He came up behind me and hit me with his car, the police came later, but he made statements that they were threatening me and killing me. There are many problems in the neighborhood, all of which are his fault. How many times have we come to the police and the problem has not been solved. We have been here since 6 o'clock and we have not received any answer. What the hell, policeman, nothing is being solved, the bullies are starting to attack us, or they are threatening us," says a resident.
Following the incident, several residents approached the Durrës Police to express their concerns. Currently, five of them are at the police station, where they are meeting with police leaders.
Residents declare that they will not leave the police station premises until concrete action is taken against the driver of the vehicle.
They also raised allegations against the 22-year-old's sister, who according to them attends the police academy and has exercised violence against several fellow villagers. Meanwhile, on April 26, the police criminally prosecuted the 20-year-old for a conflict that occurred in Arapaj.
"The Crime Investigation Specialists of the Durrës Police Station referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office, where criminal proceedings were initiated against citizen SB, 20 years old, resident of the village of Arapaj, Durrës, who, after a conflict, hit a 31-year-old woman with a cutting tool, causing minor injuries," the police announced.
