An Albanian man who secretly entered Britain despite being deported at least twice before is now in custody and awaits sentencing in March.
Ronaldo Zani's story seems to have infuriated British authorities. He was first deported from England in 2019 after being caught with cocaine. He returned a few months later and told his clients "I'm back to work."
Ronaldo was caught with £4,250 in cash, 24 grams of cocaine, three phones, as well as scales and a fake Greek identity card.
He claimed he was selling drugs to pay off a £15,000 debt to the gang that had brought him back to the UK.
The 26-year-old was sentenced to three years in prison and deported again.
However, earlier this month a police officer recognised Zani driving a Mercedes in Bournemouth, Dorset, and stopped him, according to the court.
The officer found £1,935 in cash in the packages and 24.75g of cocaine, worth around £1,500.
Zani was arrested and charged with arriving in the United Kingdom illegally, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, and driving without a license or insurance.
He pleaded guilty to the offences through an Albanian interpreter at Poole Magistrates' Court.
No details were given during the hearing as to how the 26-year-old had managed to return to the United Kingdom for the third time.
Prosecutor Jason Spelman asked magistrates to send the case to the Crown Court for sentencing, saying their powers were insufficient.
Zani was remanded in custody until sentencing in March.
A Home Office spokesman said that "foreign nationals who commit horrific crimes should be in no doubt that we will do everything we can to ensure they are not free on Britain's streets, including removing them from the UK as soon as possible."
