Investigations revealed that weapons and cocaine residue were found in the apartment used by the group.
In early January 2025, the Tirana Police were alerted by a call from a girl who asked for help, claiming that she was being held by force by several people in an apartment in Astir, a suburban area of Tirana. When the police arrived at the scene, the girl refused to cooperate. It took the intervention of the Renea special forces to rescue the young woman, where it was later discovered that more than a hostage situation, it had to do with a party among young people where drugs, alcohol and weapons were not lacking.
Investigations revealed that weapons and drug residues, including cocaine, were found in the apartment used by the group. The police announced that Joni Sadikaj and several of his associates, all with criminal records, were wanted as suspects in this incident. However, the girls claimed that they had participated in the party of their own free will, and the police managed to arrest Ermal Binjaku, who was suspected of collaborating with the group, while the other boys remained wanted.
Joni Sadikaj was a well-known name for the State Police. He was arrested and found guilty by the court for serious criminal offenses, such as trafficking in large quantities of narcotics, and illegal possession of weapons. Documents obtained by “shteg.org” show that Sadikaj not only received a reduced sentence, but within the justice system it is suspected that his criminal record was manipulated, which enabled his release from prison.
Drugs, sex and guns
On January 9, a call received at the Tirana Police Operations Room alerted the blue uniforms. Sajma Q, 21, told police that she was being held by force by several people on the 8th floor of an apartment in Astir.
The girl then refused to cooperate and did not open the door of the house when the police arrived. The "Renea" forces were forced to enter through the windows, neutralizing the situation.
In reality, according to the testimonies of the people involved, the event was different than reported. Sajma, along with her two friends, one of whom was a lawyer, had spent a night consuming drugs and alcohol with her acquaintance, Joni Sadikaj, and his friends.
Police have discovered in the apartments rented by the group, weapons such as a pistol and remnants of narcotics, cocaine, were found. Joni Sadikaj, Skerdi Sina, Arnold Jaho, Ogert and Anduen Alia, aged 26 to 40, were declared wanted as suspects for the "kidnapping" of the girls.
The police were only able to arrest Ermal Binjaku, 36, as being involved in the "party", while the other 5 boys are still being sought by the police.
The girls with whom the boys spent the evening of January 8 told him that they had been partying of their own free will in the two houses rented by the boys, but the investigation revealed that more than a crazy party among friends, the people involved turned out to be people not only with criminal records but also found guilty by the court for trafficking large quantities of narcotics. The documents of “shteg.org” show that at least one of them, Joni Sadikaj, had easily avoided sentences of a few years in prison. Even within the justice system itself, his files turned out to have been manipulated, leading to his release from prison.
Suspicious release from prison
In the early morning hours of July 14, 2017, at around 02:20, in the village of Bogë, in Kavajë, a regular police patrol attempted to stop two vehicles.
Although the patrol signaled them to stop, the drivers increased their speed, endangering the lives of the police officers. Taking advantage of the darkness and the difficult terrain, the perpetrators managed to escape by abandoning their vehicles. However, some of them were later arrested.
An inspection of these vehicles revealed that inside them were large packages of suspected cannabis, which after weighing resulted in a weight of around 1360 kg.
"The investigation team also seized two other vehicles, one a Toyota and the other a pickup truck, as well as very close to the seashore, a two-engine boat, connected to a tractor that served to tow it. So, in total, up to this stage of the investigation, 7 vehicles have been seized, of which two cars, an SUV, a van, a pickup truck, a tractor and a boat. With the discovery of the boat, the investigation team raised suspicions that the narcotics were intended for trafficking in Italy," the prosecution announced.
The person involved in this incident was Joni Sadikaj, who claimed innocence and was found guilty by the court.
The prosecution proved to the court Sadikaj's presence in this trafficking attempt with evidence found in the field, but also through environmental wiretaps within the premises of the Kavaja police station.
On December 6, 2018, the Serious Crimes Court found Joni Sadikaj guilty and sentenced him to 12 years in prison for drug trafficking. Due to the application of summary judgment, the sentence was reduced to 8 years.
The young man appealed the case and ultimately received a final decision from the Court of Appeal for Serious Crimes with 7 years in prison.
Although found guilty of a serious criminal offense, Sadikaj regained his freedom after 4 years and 7 months.
The prison directorate told "shteg.org" that Sadikaj received 11 months and 11 days of detention, his sentence was reduced by 3 months by court decision, while he was released on parole on March 1, 2022.
The person convicted of drug trafficking has requested conditional release on November 25, 2021, but the Kavaja Court has rejected his request.
Pra, Joni Sadikajt i shpëtoi sërish burgut me shumë dritëhije.
According to Article 278/3 of the Criminal Code, Joni Sadikaj was convicted of keeping weapons in the apartment, without the permission of the competent state bodies. According to point 3 of Article 278, the punishment is from 1 to 3 years of imprisonment. Tepelenasi was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months of imprisonment.
Meanwhile, the definition of the article is incorrect, as Sadikaj should have been sentenced under article 278/1, which provides for a sentence of 3 to 7 years in prison for unauthorized possession of weapons in vehicles, public spaces and open areas.
Given that Sadikaj, referring to the official Court file and the official Police statement, was arrested in flagrante delicto while carrying a weapon without a permit in a vehicle and public places. Therefore, he should have been punished according to this article. This led Sadikaj to benefit from this erroneous definition of the articles, gaining freedom again.
"Shteg.org" was unable to contact Sadikaj, as he is currently wanted by the police, while his former lawyer refused to comment on the issues the young man has with the Albanian justice system./ Shteg.org
