Police are investigating several leads. Elion Hato is also the suspected author of this event.
The investigators have reconstructed the scene of the assassination that happened on Friday, as a result of which Gentian Bejtja was killed near his house in Larushk of Fushë-Kruja.
From the witnesses who saw what happened, from the evidence collected and from the examinations at the scene, it is suspected that there were four assassins.
They followed Gentian Bejtjan, who until 16.25 on Friday was at the house of his parents who lived next to him, and then he started to return home. It was at these moments that the assassins shot him and to escape, he ran towards the greenhouse, at the door of which he remained dead from the bullets.
After the assassination, they left immediately towards Thumana with a Land Rover SUV, which was found burnt in the village of Hasan in Fushë Kruje, along with the crime weapons inside.
Shortly before the crime took place, the electricity was cut off in the area and as a result the security cameras did not work during the moments of the assassination. The police are investigating several leads, but have not yet identified the perpetrators of the crime. Elion Hato is also the suspected author of this event, an operation to arrest him was carried out yesterday.
Gentian Bejtja has been the target of several assassinations, and has been filed by the police for several serious events, including the murder of chief commissioner Dritan Lamajt in 2012.
He was the last person to meet Enver Stafuka before he was kidnapped in the middle of Fushë-Kruja by people disguised as policemen on the night of February 8, 2015 and since then disappeared without a trace.
Last July, Bejtjas was shot in the apartment, where his brother-in-law, Ramazan Sino, was killed and his two minor children were injured. Beytja was in the car with them, but a few minutes before arriving at his villa in Larushk, he got out of the car, escaping the assassination attempt. Valter Bami, with whom Gentjan Bejtja had strong clashes, was arrested and later released for the said crime. Since then, the former prison officer had moved his children abroad and remained in hiding until he was found by the assassins.
