The Tirana police have arrested 2 people who participated in the October 7 protest, due to violence and the throwing of explosives.
It is reported that the arrested are Sokol Bushkolaj 49 years old and Gentjan Tuga 47 years old. While the proceedings have started in free status for 5 others, among them a minor.
It is understood that Sokol Bushkolaj was under house arrest, accused of violence in the May 28 opposition protest, after throwing Molotov cocktails at journalists who were reporting on the scene.
"The Local Police Directorate of Tirana, following the investigative and procedural actions carried out at the direction of the Prosecutor's Office of Tirana, in relation to the violent acts carried out during the protest held on 07.10.2024, stopped the citizens:
- SB, 49 years old, resident of Kruja, for the criminal offenses "Assaults due to duty", "Breach of the rules on explosives and incendiary substances" and "Removal of the prisoner from the place of stay", provided by articles 237, 282 and 323 of the Criminal Code;
- GT, 47 years old, resident in Tirana, for the criminal offenses "Assaults due to duty" and "Destruction of property", provided by articles 237 and 150 of the Criminal Code.
In addition, the proceedings began in a free state for the citizens HB, 68 years old, IT, 49 years old, KK, 43 years old, MT, 24 years old, and a minor citizen 17 years old, for the criminal offenses "Disturbance of public order and tranquility" and "Opposition of the public order Police officer", provided by articles 274 and 236 of the Criminal Code.
The procedural materials were handed over to the Prosecutor's Office," the police announced.
During the protest organized by the opposition, 10 policemen were injured, Molotov cocktails were thrown at the ministries, and garbage cans and bus stations were burned.
